This site is dedicated to tracking compliance with the Declaration of Commitment, 2001, the single most important international HIV/AIDS policy instrument in the fight against AIDS. By committing to the Declaration countries agreed to time-bound commitments and a regular process to review their progress in meeting those commitments. A number of years have past since the Declaration was signed. As AIDS campaigners we have to keep the memory of the UNGASS promises and the enthusiasm to achieve them as alive as if those commitments were made yesterday.
This site includes resources from the 2006 and 2008 review meetings as well as other information and updates. We will continue to update the page with the latest information in 2010.
Date set for 2010 Review Meeting
Subject to confirmation by the UN Secretariat, the General Assembly 2010 Review meeting is planned on 10 June 2010. The meeting will be a regular plenary meeting and will not include panel or roundtable discussions.
2010 progress reports now online
UNAIDS recently posted the 2010 progress reports submitted by country which member states are required to submit to the UN every two years. These submissions form the basis of the Secretary-General’s report to the General Assembly as well as the 2010 End of Year Report on the Global AIDS Epidemic.
